Care Homes
A More Welcoming Care Hub
Project Overview
Traditional nursing stations can appear clinical and institutional, making it difficult for residents to distinguish them from surrounding spaces while creating an environment that feels less welcoming.
What We Did
- Redesigned the nursing station to feel more welcoming and less institutional
- Integrated culturally inspired graphics and architectural details into the design
- Created a visual landmark that helps residents recognize the care hub
- Coordinated colours, materials, and graphics with the surrounding wing for a cohesive environment
- Softened the appearance of the nursing station while maintaining a functional workspace for staff
- Reinforced the resident-centred design approach throughout the care environment
Outcome
The nursing station becomes an easily recognizable landmark within the wing, making it easier for residents, visitors, and staff to identify where care and assistance are located. Its distinct appearance also strengthens orientation while contributing to a more welcoming and cohesive environment.
